Nigerian Lady Renovates Newly Rented Lagos Apartment with Cement and Paint, Sparks Online Debate

A young Nigerian lady has gone viral after documenting how she transformed her newly rented apartment in Lagos, sparking mixed reactions across social media.

The tenant, identified on TikTok as @zika_ing, noticed that the walls of her new home were rough and filled with holes that could attract insects. Determined to create a more comfortable living space, she purchased renovation materials including a bag of cement, POP paint, and a 2kg top bond.

She also hired a labourer to screed the walls, personally supervising the process and even buying additional supplies like half a bag of cement and an extra bucket of POP paint when needed.

After the work was completed, the once-rough walls became smooth and ready for painting. Sharing her excitement online, she said the effort was worth it, as the renovation gave the apartment a cleaner and more homely look.

Her video quickly spread on TikTok, drawing thousands of reactions. While some viewers praised her initiative and commitment to improving her living space, others questioned why she would spend so much time and money renovating a property that she doesn’t own.

Despite the criticism, the lady maintained that she had no regrets, stressing that the screeding and painting not only improved the aesthetics but also made the environment healthier and more enjoyable to live in.
