Nigerian Man Exposes Woman Who Allegedly Scammed Him of ₦50,000 Over Fish Delivery
A Nigerian man has taken to social media to expose a woman who allegedly defrauded him of ₦50,000 after promising to supply a specific type of fish and disappearing with the money.
The incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @AyokusehinD, who called on the public to help track down the suspect to prevent her from targeting more victims.
According to him, the ordeal began when he posted an urgent request online for a certain kind of fish needed for a cargo delivery. Several people responded, including a woman who claimed she could help source and supply the fish.
He explained that while the agreed total cost for 50 pieces was ₦100,000, he decided to send only half the amount ₦50,000 due to initial doubts. He promised to pay the balance upon delivery.
“I wasn’t at peace in my spirit, so I quickly downloaded most of her pictures before I transferred the money,” he wrote. “She first told me she had gotten the fish but couldn’t deliver at night. By morning, she claimed there was no light and she couldn’t take a picture of it.”
His suspicions were confirmed when the woman allegedly deactivated her social media account, blocked him on WhatsApp, and became unreachable by phone. The number was later picked up by a man who told him to “forget about the matter” before hanging up.
He posted screenshots of their remaining chats and pictures of the woman, warning others to be cautious.
“I’m not pained about the money but about the fact that she will be scamming so many people here. The most painful thing is not meeting up with the delivery to my client,” he lamented.
The post went viral, attracting mixed reactions from other users:
- @SommyApril: “You sent her money because she was female when you clearly had males there. I’m sorry, but you deserve it.”
- @BounteouSjyny: “With this pix I’m seeing here, you f up big time. Was there anything fish-related on her page? Hmmmm.”
- @UmeanohDaniel: “I called the number. A guy picked and said if it’s because of this matter, I should forget it.”
- @balogin: “50k and she disappeared. Na wa o. She’s not invisible, though.”
The incident has fueled renewed calls for caution when making online transactions, especially with unverified sellers.
