Nigerian Man Reclaims ₦10,000 “Transport Fare” from Lady Who Blocked Him — Thanks to Swift Action by OPay
A Nigerian man has gone viral after successfully recovering ₦10,000 he sent to a lady who blocked him immediately after receiving the money.
The man, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @olamilekan00007, shared that he had sent the amount through OPay to cover the lady’s transport fare. However, shortly after receiving the payment, she blocked him across all platforms — leaving him both shocked and frustrated.
Refusing to let the incident slide, Olamilekan contacted OPay’s customer support, providing proof of the transaction, including receipts and chat evidence. After a brief investigation, OPay refunded his money and reportedly froze the recipient’s account.
Expressing his excitement online, Olamilekan praised the fintech platform for its swift response, writing:
“Almighty Allah will bless this OPay for me. Werey collect transport money, block me. E sweet my belle.”
His post quickly gained traction, attracting hundreds of comments from Nigerians who applauded his persistence and OPay’s efficiency.
Many users shared similar experiences — some of which didn’t end as well — while others vowed to handle future transactions with more caution.
One user, @cossyb, wrote:
“Thank you for this update. One criminal electrician took my ₦22k and disappeared. I just filed my case; hope to get my money back too.”
Another user, @tflextunechi231, confirmed OPay’s effectiveness, explaining that the refund process works best for Opay-to-Opay transfers:
“Opay will freeze the receiver’s account and credit you back your money fast.”
The story has since sparked widespread discussions about digital accountability and the growing reliability of Nigerian fintech services in resolving fraud-related complaints.
