Nigerian Man Remembers Late Rev. Uma Ukpai’s Last Words and Life-Changing Influence
A Nigerian man, Anietie Usen, has shared an emotional tribute to the late renowned evangelist, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, revealing a heartfelt warning the preacher gave him years before his passing.
Usen, who first met Rev. Ukpai in 1992, described their encounter as a life-changing moment that marked the beginning of his deep walk with God. Recalling the event in a Facebook post, he wrote, “The Altar Call I answered many years ago was made by Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai. It was at the embryo of his Wednesday fellowship in his residence at Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo. That was in 1992 the genesis of my intentional walk with God.”
Rev. Ukpai, the founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, passed away at the age of 80. His death occurred on October 6 but was officially announced a week later, on October 13, 2025. Known for his powerful crusades and dedication to spreading the gospel, the preacher was loved and respected across Nigeria and beyond.
In his tribute, Usen recalled how Rev. Ukpai once gave him a personal warning that stayed with him for years. “I remember that my son, Bobby Usen, was born on your birthday. You prayed more than anyone else for my next child to be a boy. When God answered that prayer, you warned me not to pamper him, being the only boy among three girls and I obeyed,” he shared.
Usen also reminisced about visiting the preacher’s home on Christmas Eve in 1999, traveling all the way from Lagos to Asaga with his family. According to him, Rev. Ukpai’s prayers and encouragement helped him through difficult seasons and turned his sorrow into joy.
“You did not only open my eyes to see Jesus but stood by me until I could stand firm in Him. That’s worth more than money can buy,” he wrote, expressing deep gratitude to the late evangelist.
Rev. Uma Ukpai’s passing has left many heartbroken, as tributes continue to pour in from admirers, church leaders, and followers who were touched by his decades-long ministry and unwavering faith.
