Nigerian Para-Athletes Gear Up in Intensive Training Camp Ahead of International Championships
Nigerian para-athletes have commenced an intensive training camp as they prepare to represent the country in upcoming international para-sport championships.
The camp organized by the Nigeria Paralympic Committee (NPC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, aims to sharpen the skills and fitness of athletes across various disability classifications.
Officials have confirmed that the training camp includes athletes participating in athletics, powerlifting, wheelchair basketball, and table tennis, among other disciplines.
These preparations are part of a broader strategy to elevate Nigeria’s performance on the global stage and boost the visibility of para-sports nationally.
In addition to the para-athletes’ camp training and logistical preparations are ongoing for Nigeria’s able-bodied national teams preparing for other forthcoming world championships across football athletics basketball and swimming.
The Nigerian government, as well as sporting federations, have prioritized thorough preparations to ensure competitive performances and strengthen Nigeria’s international sports reputation.
Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Senator John Enoh emphasized the importance of investing in both para and able-bodied athletes ahead of global events stating Our commitment is to provide all our athletes with the resources expertis and support they need to shine at every level of competition. Inclusive sports development is key to fostering unity and showcasing Nigeria’s talent worldwide.
