Nigerian Preacher Urges Women to Protect Husbands’ Dignity Amid Fertility Challenges
A Nigerian female preacher has sparked discussion after advising women to safeguard their husbands’ dignity by not publicly disclosing fertility struggles.
Speaking at a recent church convention, the preacher urged wives to “cover your husband’s shame” and refrain from announcing issues such as low sperm count. She warned that public exposure could deeply harm a man’s ego and self-esteem.
“Learn how to cover your husband’s shame, even before he does. If your husband struggles with fertility and you’ve been married for several years without a child, do not announce to the public that he cannot conceive. Taking that insult privately is far better than harming his reputation,” she said.
While emphasizing discretion, she also encouraged couples to seek medical solutions. “This is a sacred matter. Continue praying, trust in God, and ensure your husband seeks treatment. One day, God will bring joy to your family,” she added.
The preacher’s advice has generated mixed reactions online. Some praised the emphasis on protecting family dignity, while others questioned whether such guidance might encourage women to remain silent in unhealthy relationships.
