Nigerian Woman Opens Up About Husband’s Refusal to Pay for Her Emergency C-Section

A Nigerian woman, known on TikTok as @abeokuta_luxury, has shared a deeply personal and heartbreaking experience involving her husband just before she underwent an emergency C-section.

In a viral TikTok post, she explained that her baby’s breathing was compromised, making the surgery urgent. The procedure cost ₦250,000, but her husband reportedly said he didn’t have the money. She then reached out to her father, who sent ₦100,000 to help cover the cost. Shockingly, her husband criticized the contribution, saying:

“So na 100k your papa fit send out of the 250k? Useless family.”

She also revealed that her husband often pressured her to pay for hospital tests and other expenses, sometimes lying helplessly on her labor bed to make her transfer money to his account.

Sharing her experience, @abeokuta_luxury revealed that she has since divorced her husband, who remains unnamed, and described her story as a way to raise awareness about emotional and financial abuse in marriage.

“Mind you, since I refused to carry all the money with me to the hospital, whenever they needed something, he would come lying on the labor bed telling me to transfer money,” she wrote.

Her story has sparked conversations on social media about abusive relationships, the importance of support systems during childbirth, and the strength it takes to leave toxic situations. Many viewers have praised her courage in sharing her experience and standing up for herself.
