Nkanu Youths Hail Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh’s Re-election as Nkanu East Chairman.
Nkanu Youths, under the aegis of the Nkanu Youth Organisation (NYO), have expressed their happiness over the re-election of Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh as the council chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The group described Hon. Edeh as a trailblazer, leader, and youth development expert, whose policies have immensely impacted the youth of Nkanu East, alongside advancements in other sectors.
In a congratulatory press statement signed by the Chairman of the organisation in Nkanu East, Ogbu Mmaduabuchi, and sent to newsmen on Wednesday, they highlighted that Hon. Edeh’s re-election would usher in “disruptive development” and further transform the local government.
According to the statement, during Hon. Edeh’s first term, significant improvements were made in infrastructure, including the construction of the Ojolowo Bridge at Ugbawka and the rehabilitation of critical roads that enhanced mobility and trade. His administration also focused on electrifying communities by installing over 200 solar lights, improving safety and nighttime activities in rural areas.
Hon. Edeh was further commended for his support of farmers, where grants and fertilizers were provided to boost agricultural productivity, as well as his commitment to education and healthcare through the renovation of schools and hospitals across Nkanu East. His inclusion of youth in politics and education was also highlighted, with the procurement of JAMB forms for students and increased engagement of young people in his administration.
The NYO also expressed their gratitude to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his support of Hon. Edeh’s administration, which was instrumental in the strides made during his first term. They assured the Governor and the newly re-elected Chairman of their continued support in bringing more development to the local government.

The Nkanu Youth Organisation, Nkanu East chapter, congratulates Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh (Sydoc) on his re-election as Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area. This victory is a clear testament to the trust the people have in his leadership and commitment to developing our area.
In his first term, Hon. Edeh made significant improvements. The construction and rehabilitation of the Ojolowo Bridge at Ugbawka has greatly improved mobility for our people. The rehabilitation of the Ekeube Market-Uhuona-Obeagu Ugbawka road was another major success, enhancing opportunities for trade and transportation.
His administration also installed over 200 solar lights in various communities, bringing light to dark areas and improving safety. Additionally, farmers received grants and fertilizers, boosting food production and improving agricultural output.
A notable accomplishment was the construction of the Nkanu East Ultra-Modern Hall at the Local Government Secretariat in Amagunze, which provides a venue for important gatherings and events. His focus on security was evident through the mobilization of neighborhood watch groups and the provision of modern equipment to safeguard our communities.
Hon. Edeh also demonstrated his commitment to healthcare and education by rehabilitating three hospitals across the development centers and renovating primary schools, ensuring better facilities for learning and healthcare.
Furthermore, his dedication to the youth of Nkanu East was evident in the political engagement of young people in his administration, as well as the procurement of JAMB forms for numerous students, supporting their academic advancement.
