“Nkanu Youths Set to Host Economic Summit for Skill and Business Development”

Nkanu youths, under the aegis of the Nkanu Youth Organization (NYO), are set to embark on an economic summit aimed at equipping young minds from the cultural zone with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving economic landscape.

Speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Sunday, the group’s president, Comrade Dịka David, said the program is part of their resolve to transform Nkanu youths from passive spectators into active economic participants and business leaders.

He stated that they have outlined a structured internship and apprenticeship system, modeled after the time-tested Igba Boi apprenticeship framework, adding that participants will gain hands-on mentorship and business training from industry experts.

According to him, “The skills, knowledge, and resources needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving economic landscape. This summit is more than an event—it is a strategic endeavor aimed at transforming Nkanu youths from passive spectators into active economic participants and business leaders.

At the heart of this summit is a commitment to practical empowerment through a structured internship and apprenticeship system, modeled after the time-tested Igbo Nwa-Boi apprenticeship framework. Participants will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and business training from industry experts for a period of six months, ensuring they develop the skills needed to succeed in various sectors.”

He also stated that the initiative aligns with the broader vision of fostering self-reliance and economic independence among Nkanu youths, stressing that the era of waiting for government jobs is over.
“The summit will provide participants with not just theoretical knowledge but also real-world business strategies that can be applied in various sectors, including technology, agriculture, commerce, and creative industries.”

Comrade Dịka David also revealed that notable entrepreneurs, business executives, and industry leaders from different sectors will be present at the summit to share their experiences and provide mentorship. He urged all interested youths within the cultural zone to take advantage of the opportunity, as the program is designed to equip them with the necessary tools to succeed in today’s competitive economy, adding that it is in par with the ongoing transformation ideas championed by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State.

“The summit aligns with the ongoing economic transformation in Enugu State, led by Governor Barr. Peter Mbah, ensuring that young people of Nkanu are well-positioned to tap into the state’s growing infrastructure, digital economy, and industrial expansion. Through panel discussions, masterclasses, networking sessions, and stakeholder engagements, the summit will connect youths with policymakers, investors, and industry leaders who can help shape their future.”

“Ultimately, the Nkanu Youth Economic Summit 2025 is a call to action—a platform for young people to rise, take charge, and build a self-sustaining economic future for themselves and their communities. It is an opportunity to learn, connect, and transform.”

Join us as we create a new generation of empowered, business-minded, and economically independent Nkanu youths!”
