No Presidential Interference: First Lady Obaseki Downplays Election Fears.
The First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, has refuted claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intends to sway the results of the upcoming governorship election in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) through the use of “federal might.”
“President Tinubu is far too astute for that. He operates on a different level entirely. I would also like to commend former President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to democratic principles, ensuring that federal power is utilized solely to protect voters and not to alter election outcomes,” she remarked.
Mrs. Obaseki further asserted that President Tinubu would not undermine the democratic process, citing his reputation as a reformer during his time as governor of Lagos State.
“President Tinubu, who is dedicated to good governance and sustaining progress, would not jeopardize the advancements achieved in Edo under my husband’s leadership, especially given the global recognition our state has garnered for its development.
As a leader for the nation, President Tinubu would not support any initiatives aimed at destabilizing a well-managed state. If governor’s across Nigeria follow the paths charted in Edo and Lagos, we could collectively awaken to a brighter future for the country”.
