Obidient Movement Berates Akpabio Over Remarks on Obi, Blames APC for Labour Party Crisis

The Obidient Movement, a group backing Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his recent comments questioning Obi’s leadership over unresolved issues within the Labour Party (LP).

Akpabio had mocked Obi for aspiring to lead Nigeria while being unable to resolve his party’s internal crisis.

In a statement released Saturday by the group’s Director of Strategic Communication and Media, Nana Kazaure, the movement accused Akpabio’s party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), of engineering the LP crisis by providing state protection to sacked LP National Chairman Julius Abure.

Kazaure described Akpabio’s remarks as hypocritical and claimed that the Supreme Court had already ruled against Abure’s continued leadership, but the APC has undermined the ruling through political interference.

She criticized Akpabio’s leadership of the 10th Senate, calling it the worst in the country’s history, and defended Obi’s record in public service as unassailable.
