Odunlade Adekola Faces Backlash for Congratulating Police PRO on Promotion

Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Odunlade Adekola has come under fire online after publicly congratulating Muyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, on his recent promotion.

The Police Service Commission recently announced Adejobi’s elevation from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), recognizing his professionalism and dedication to service.

Adekola took to Instagram to celebrate, writing, “Congratulations, sir. As the new DSP @adejobimuyiwa, God will bless you more, sir.”

However, what seemed like a simple gesture of goodwill triggered a wave of criticism from Nigerians displeased with the police force’s reputation.

Many accused the actor of endorsing an institution they believe has failed the public, citing ongoing concerns over police misconduct, corruption, and a lack of accountability in high-profile cases.
