Okon Lagos Questions Fairness of Nnamdi Kanu’s Life Imprisonment, Urges Presidential Intervention
Nollywood actor Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly known as Okon Lagos, has publicly reacted to the life imprisonment verdict reportedly handed to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
In an Instagram post, Okon Lagos expressed concern over what he described as the disparity in how justice is applied in Nigeria.
He highlighted that some individuals labeled as “repented” terrorists are often pardoned, reintegrated into society, and even absorbed into sensitive national security agencies, while Kanu faces severe punishment.
He wrote, “If ‘repented’ terrorists of Northern Nigeria extract can be ‘justifiably’ pardoned and reintegrated into core institutions of national security like our armed forces, then the same gesture can be accorded Nnamdi Kanu.”
The actor called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, urging him to “balance the scales” and demonstrate fairness. He stressed that Nigeria cannot claim justice if selective standards are applied to former terrorists.
Okon Lagos’ post has sparked mixed reactions on social media. Some users applauded him for raising a valid concern about selective forgiveness, while others maintained that judicial decisions must be respected regardless of public opinion.
