Okon of Lagos Says 2027 Political Coalition Will Fail Without Peter Obi
Nollywood comic actor Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly known as Okon of Lagos, has weighed in on Nigeria’s fast-approaching 2027 general elections, stirring online conversations with his bold take on the current political alliances forming against President Bola Tinubu.
Sharing his thoughts via Instagram, Okon criticized the recently unveiled coalition comprising notable figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi. The group had come together under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), hoping to form a formidable front ahead of the elections.
However, Okon believes the coalition is doomed to fail unless Peter Obi is firmly at its helm. In his post, he described the group as a collection of “out-of-favor politicians, disgruntled Buharists, and seemingly marginalized politically entitled Northerners.”
In a metaphor that sparked both laughter and debate, Okon likened Peter Obi’s role to an “erection,” arguing that without Obi’s momentum, the alliance would be ineffective.
“They are like a very big and attractive manhood, and Peter Obi is their erection. A big manhood is useless without the capacity to be erect,” he wrote.
The post quickly went viral, with fans and political enthusiasts flooding the comments section. While some praised Okon’s wit and political insight, others criticized his take, especially on Obi’s involvement with other political heavyweights.
One user responded, “Fantastic presentation with deep meaning. If you know, you know.” Another added, “Your posts are a must-read. You always speak truth with humor.”
Some commenters, however, questioned Peter Obi’s political strategy, expressing concern that his involvement in such coalitions may weaken the Labour Party’s foundation, which he built significantly in the 2023 elections.
Okon’s remarks have once again demonstrated how entertainers are playing an increasingly influential role in shaping political conversations in Nigeria, often speaking truths that resonate deeply with the public.
