One Month After, Hon Sam Chimaobi Atu leading by example.
Fellow Constituents and Obidients. I made a vow during the campaigns to brief you monthly on my activities in the National Assembly. It has been one month since I took oath to represent the good people of Enugu North and South Federal Constituency.
Expectedly, it has been one month of trials and triumphs. With God on our side and the unflinching supports of all of you, we recorded few results.
Below are the few things we were able to achieve through your support:
1. GIVING OUR PEOPLE A VIOCE: We moved a motion during the first sitting of the 10th Assembly on the ravaging effects of gully erosion along New Market/Ugwuonyeama/9th Mile Road.
2. Actions on our Motion:
We monitored the motion and made sure it was transmitted to the relevant agencies and ministries. One of the agencies visited the site two weeks ago to ascertain what could be done. We are still following up.
3. Membership of House Adhoc Committee:
The House Leadership appointed me a member of the House Adhoc Committee on Legislative Agenda. This Committee is working seriously to determine the priorities of the House for the next four years.
4. Installation of Solar Street Light: Through vigilance and collaboration, we insisted that all the projects approved and funded in the 2023 budget must be implemented to the very last. With this, some contractors have started installing solar street lights in selected streets in our Constituency. More are coming.
5. Grading of Rural Roads: Four days ago, we started the grading of some rural roads in our Constituency. Note that this is out-of-pocket expenditure.
6. Constituency Office: Few days ago, we secured a building at 9 Umuawulu Street independence Layout Enugu, by Agric Bank junction, to serve as our Constituency office. This office will be officially opened in August.
7. On Issues of National Importance:
I have spoken about fuel subsidy and insisted that there must be measurable and achievable timelines on how the money will be used to improve security, education, health and economy.
Fellow Obidients and Constituents, there are certain issues that we can’t share on this space for obvious reasons. But let me assure all of you that I will continue to humbly represent your interest at all cost. I am fully Obidient and it shall remain so. Thank you for all for your unwavering supports and sacrifices.
