Osinbajo Hails Buhari’s Legacy: “He Proved Public Service Can Be Corruption-Free”

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has praised the late President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his administration as a shining example of integrity-driven leadership in Nigeria’s democratic history.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Council meeting on Thursday, Osinbajo said Buhari’s time in office demonstrated that governance can be grounded in honesty, transparency, and unwavering principles.

“He proved that you can serve honestly, forthrightly, with transparency and integrity,” Osinbajo said, recalling his years of working closely with the late president.

He described Buhari as a consistent and disciplined leader whose character never wavered, even during political setbacks. According to Osinbajo, Buhari’s democratic journey from a former military ruler to a three-time presidential candidate who pursued justice through the courts showed his deep commitment to lawful governance.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will be remembered first as a convicted democrat,” Osinbajo said. “He contested and lost elections three times but never gave up. He sought justice through due process and eventually emerged victorious in 2015.”

Osinbajo further highlighted Buhari’s commitment to democratic values, his unwavering loyalty to the APC, and his desire for a united, prosperous Nigeria. He concluded by thanking God for Buhari’s life and legacy of patriotic service.
