Outrage as Video Reveals Decay at Kano’s First Science Secondary School

Prominent Arewa activist Dan Bello has ignited public outrage after releasing a shocking video that exposed the appalling condition of Dawakin Tofa Science College Kano State’s first and historic science secondary school.

The video, which has since gone viral on social media, reveals buildings with collapsed roofs, cracked walls, derelict laboratories covered in dust, and classrooms with no desks or chairs, forcing students to sit on bare floors. The school library was also shown in a state of disrepair, stacked with outdated textbooks and cobwebs.

Founded in the late 1970s under the leadership of then-Governor Colonel Sani Bello, Dawakin Tofa Science College once stood as a beacon of academic excellence and was home to some of Nigeria’s brightest scientific minds.

But decades later, the institution is now a shadow of its former self.

“Our science schools are crying for help this injustice must end,” one social media user lamented under Bello’s post.

Bello’s tweet included the caption:

“I visited the first and historic science secondary school in Kano.”
