Oyedepo Blasts Critics Denying Violence Against Churches in Nigeria

Bishop David Oyedepo has strongly criticised assertions that there is no ongoing genocide in parts of Nigeria, questioning how anyone could make such a claim amid repeated violent attacks.

The cleric referenced the recent assault on a Christ Apostolic Church congregation, expressing disbelief that such incidents could be downplayed or ignored. He accused critics of deliberately distorting the truth and misleading the public.

“You say there’s no genocide? So what is genocide? Do you know grammar? The case is already on record, and you say there’s no genocide? Are you sleeping?” Oyedepo said, referencing the recent attacks on the church.

The Bishop condemned the spread of misinformation, calling it spiritually dangerous. He invoked divine intervention against those he described as lying about the nation’s reality.

“The Holy Ghost curses liars. Holy Ghost come down and inflict curses on those lying against the truth,” Oyedepo stated.

His remarks come amid growing national outrage over attacks on rural communities and religious centres. Citizens are demanding transparency, accountability, and urgent government action to curb the rising violence.

In a recent social media post shared by Faith Tabernacle, Oyedepo further urged vigilance and divine justice:

“What you don’t want, you don’t watch; what you don’t resist has the right to remain; what you don’t confront, you cannot conquer. Therefore, we decree vengeance upon every enemy of the Church, and we curse every evil perpetrator in Nigeria!”
