Pastor Adeboye Shares Vision of Peaceful Passing After Worship and Pounded Yam
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the revered General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has once again shared his heartfelt vision of a peaceful departure from this life.
Speaking at the church’s International Convention themed “The Overcomers,” Pastor Adeboye revealed his belief that he will pass away on a Sunday after worship and enjoying his favorite meal, pounded yam.
Addressing congregants on the fourth day of the convention, he reiterated a vision he first disclosed two years ago, encouraging believers to trust that death for Christians can be calm and free from suffering. “I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” he said confidently.
In his sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions,” Pastor Adeboye emphasized that while spiritual blessings such as healing, prosperity, and long life are secured in Christ, believers often need to actively pursue these blessings against spiritual opposition. Drawing lessons from the biblical story of the Israelites claiming the Promised Land, he urged Christians to “fight for things that are already yours.”
He reminded the congregation that Jesus paid a great price for their healing and prosperity but warned of spiritual forces working against them. Quoting John 10:10, he said, “Your greatest friend, Jesus Christ, paid a great price to purchase your healing. Yet there is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.”
Pastor Adeboye also addressed societal attitudes toward successful Christians, noting the irony that “if you make it as a Christian, they criticize you; if you die poor, they ask, ‘Where’s your God?’” Using biblical examples like Rachel and Hannah, who overcame barrenness through prayer, he encouraged believers not to accept sickness, poverty, or premature death as their lot.
“It is what we tolerate that disturbs us. Stop tolerating sickness, poverty, barrenness, or premature death. Fight to possess your possessions,” he urged.
The RCCG International Convention continues to draw thousands of worshippers, with reports of 50 babies born during the event and ongoing messages of spiritual empowerment and warfare.
