Pastor Blessed Pays Tribute to Late Charlie Kirk, Praises His ‘Christian Virtues’
Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, husband of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, describing him as a man of rare courage and unwavering convictions.
According to reports, Kirk, 31, a prominent conservative figure and close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump, was shot dead during a debate at Utah Valley University.
Reacting on Instagram, Pastor Blessed highlighted Kirk’s strong sense of conviction, noting that he stood firm in his beliefs regardless of whether people agreed with him or not.
“One thing I truly admire about Charlie Kirk is his clarity of convictions. Whether you agree with him or not, he never wavers; he boldly stands for what he believes in. That kind of courage is rare and worth honouring. RIP,” he wrote.
In another tribute post, the pastor described Kirk’s death as both heartbreaking and painful, saying the activist embodied courage, dignity, and Christian values.
“The gruesome murder of Charlie is heartbreaking and painful. He was a man of strong values, reflecting courage, dignity, and Christian virtues. No one deserves to die in such a cruel way. May his soul rest in peace, and may the Lord comfort his loved ones in this time of grief. I pray that his killers will be found and brought to justice swiftly,” he added.
However, his tribute sparked mixed reactions online. While some praised his words, others criticized him for overlooking Kirk’s controversial record.
Instagram user p_yabahgirl wrote: “Is that the only good thing about him you can post? What about all of the terrible things he has done and said about others? Please post those as well, Pastor!”
Another user, @aiv10, cautioned: “Pastor, I have to say this with love but also with truth: misrepresenting Charlie Kirk and using Christianity to cover it up is dangerous. Especially from the pulpit, and especially as a Black pastor, there’s a greater responsibility to discern before declaring a man ‘good.’ The gospel calls us higher than that.”
Others, like distinguished_chiefmatron, were blunt: “He was never a Christian. He was everything unchristian.”
The debate continues online as tributes and criticisms pour in over the controversial activist’s death.
