Pastor Paul Adefarasin Says He’s Ready If Nigeria Faces War Amid Rising Security Concerns
Renowned Nigerian clergyman, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has stated that while he hopes Nigeria never faces a full-scale war, he is personally prepared should such a situation arise.
Speaking amid escalating attacks by bandits and terrorists across several regions, Adefarasin described Nigeria as a frontline in what he called a broader global clash of civilizations.
“I certainly hope that Nigeria doesn’t have to go to war, but I’m ready for it,” he said. “There is still dialogue ongoing, and I hope it succeeds in permanently removing terrorism from Nigeria.
It is going to require strategic thinking and strong negotiation. However, I really don’t think you should negotiate with terrorists.”
The pastor expressed optimism that ongoing diplomatic efforts could bring lasting peace and eliminate the threat of terrorism, though he stressed that achieving such progress would require careful planning and intelligence.
His remarks come at a time of heightened national anxiety over insecurity, renewed attacks by armed groups, and public debate about Nigeria’s readiness for potential conflict.
Adefarasin’s comments underscore the importance of both preparedness and diplomacy in addressing the country’s security challenges.
