Paystack Co-founder Ezra Olubi Terminated Amid Allegations of Inappropriate Conduct

Nigerian fintech giant Paystack has terminated the employment of its Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, following resurfaced allegations of inappropriate sexual relations with a junior staff member.

Olubi disclosed his dismissal in a blog post on Saturday, November 23, 2025, asserting that Paystack acted prematurely without completing an internal investigation or offering him an opportunity to respond.

“My legal team is now reviewing the process that led to my purported termination, including its consistency with internal policies. They will take the steps they consider appropriate, and I will not be commenting further on this matter at this time,” Olubi wrote.

He also revealed that he was not invited to any meeting nor given a chance to respond before being removed, which he claims violates both his suspension terms and Paystack’s internal procedures.

The allegations against Olubi were intensified by the resurfacing of sexually explicit posts from his social media accounts dating back to 2009–2013, sparking public debate about accountability and workplace ethics in Africa’s tech sector.

Paystack had previously confirmed Olubi’s suspension and the appointment of an independent investigator to look into the claims. However, the company has not released a follow-up statement since Olubi’s blog post.
