PDP Begins Sale of Nomination Forms for 2025 Bye-Elections, Sets Senate Aspirant Fee at ₦3.5 Million
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked off preparations for the 2025 bye-elections, officially launching the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms across several federal and state constituencies.
In a statement released on Thursday, July 3, 2025, by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) announced that sales of forms will run from July 3 to July 10, while the final submission date is set for Friday, July 11, 2025.
According to the party’s approved fee structure, Senate aspirants are required to pay ₦500,000 for the Expression of Interest form and ₦3,000,000 for the Nomination form, totalling ₦3.5 million.
House of Representatives hopefuls will pay ₦2.5 million, comprising ₦500,000 for the Expression of Interest and ₦2,000,000 for the Nomination form.
State House of Assembly aspirants are to pay ₦100,000 and ₦500,000 respectively, totaling ₦600,000.
The bye-elections will take place across multiple constituencies, including:
Adamawa State – Ganye State Constituency
Anambra State – Anambra South Senatorial District, Onitsha North State Constituency
Edo State – Edo Central Senatorial District, Ovia North East/South West Federal Constituency
Jigawa State – Batura/Garki Federal Constituency
Kaduna State – Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Zaria/Kawasaki and Basawa State Constituency
Kano State – Shanono/Bagwai State Constituency
Kogi State – Okura II State Constituency
Niger State – Munya State Constituency
Ogun State – Ikenne/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency
Oyo State – Ibadan North Federal Constituency
Taraba State – Karim Lamido I State Constituency
Zamfara State – Kaura Namoda South State Constituency
Constituency bye-elections are organized to fill legislative vacancies caused by death, resignation, or legal nullifications. They are a critical part of the democratic process, especially in ensuring continued representation.
Ologunagba assured party members and the public of a credible selection process: “The NWC assures all Party leaders, stakeholders, and teeming members of the PDP of a transparent and credible nomination exercise as we march to victory in the bye-elections.”
