PDP Calls for Urgent inauguration of Abia Assembly Member-Elect Aaron Uzodike.
The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Abia State House of Assembly to promptly swear in Hon Aaron Uzodike, the elected member representing Aba North State Constituency.
Following a lengthy delay during which the Speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa, neglected to inaugurate the PDP member despite the Appeal Court in Lagos reinstating his mandate, the Abia State PDP leadership has intervened.
In a statement released on Saturday by Alwell Asiforo Okere, the Abia State PDP Chairman, through the Acting Publicity Secretary and Vice Chairman of the Party, Elder Abraham Amah, the PDP has directed its caucus within the state assembly to ensure the immediate inauguration of Aaron Uzodike as a member.
This directive was issued after thorough consultations with members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party, emphasizing the importance of upholding the democratic process and honoring the outcomes of legal decisions.
“Abia PDP is convinced that there are no legal obstacles preventing his inauguration, following the issuance of his Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on December 13, 2023, which is the only requirement for his inauguration.
“We urge Abia elders, concerned citizens of Abia State, and conscientious members of the Labour Party, especially those dissatisfied with their leader’s autocratic tendencies, to intervene and ensure the immediate inauguration of Hon Aaron Uzodike to avoid the bastardization of our democracy and prevent the constituents from resorting to self help”.
