PDP Is Reinvigorated and Ready for 2027 – Dr. Adetokunbo Declares After Crucial NEC Meeting
Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a prominent member of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that the party is unified and gaining momentum following a successful National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Pearse who previously served on Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign and currently leads the Reset Lagos PDP initiative emphasized that the PDP remains strong, structured, and well-organized despite internal disagreements.
“There’s nothing wrong with the PDP,” he stated. “Unlike many other parties, the PDP has a solid foundation and internal structure. Disagreements are natural like in any marriage but they don’t mean the house is falling apart.”
The just-concluded 101st NEC meeting laid out strategic plans for the party’s future, including setting dates for the national elective convention on November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State, and zoning the 2027 presidential ticket to the South a decision Pearse praised as both timely and strategic in challenging the APC and President Bola Tinubu.
He reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to internal democracy, contrasting it with parties that rely heavily on appointments rather than fair elections.
“Jumping ship because of conflict is short-sighted,” Pearse said. “The PDP is recovering, and those leaving the party are making a mistake they’re simply disoriented.”
Commenting on Atiku Abubakar’s recent defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Pearse criticized the move, describing it as politically unwise.
“Even if Atiku secures the ADC ticket, he won’t win a general election under that platform. He’s miscalculating again and hurting his legacy.”
With renewed focus and restructuring from the NEC, Pearse affirmed that the PDP is on the path to reclaim its leadership role in Nigeria’s political landscape.
