PDP Turmoil: Disciplinary Committee Calls Anyanwu, Ortom, and 10 Others to Appear
The National Disciplinary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Chief Tom Ikimi, has summoned Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s National Secretary, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, and 10 other individuals due to allegations of anti-party activities.
Ikimi announced that the committee convened recently to review five petitions, some of which targeted key members of the National Working Committee (NWC).In accordance with Section 57(1) of the amended PDP Constitution (2017), the committee examined these petitions.
However, to facilitate ongoing reconciliation efforts by the Governors’ Forum and the Board of Trustees, they opted to set aside three of the complaints.
The remaining petitions involve former Governor Ortom and 10 others, including Senator Anyanwu.
The committee has requested the concerned parties to appear before them on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Legacy House in Maitama, Abuja.
Those summoned include both the petitioners and their witnesses, along with the accused members of the party, who will also have the opportunity to present their witnesses.
Notices have been distributed to all parties involved. The committee reaffirmed its dedication to upholding discipline within the party and restoring its integrity and urged anyone with valid grievances against party members to engage with the committee’s processes appropriately.
When inquired, Ortom, through his Media Adviser Nathaniel Ikyur, stated that he had yet to receive the invitation letter, saying, “I haven’t received any invitation.
When it arrives, I will comply. I cannot respond to social media posts. There are others who should also appear.”
