PDP Warns Tinubu Against Alleged Moves to Establish One-Party Rule in Nigeria.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to President Bola Tinubu, alleging a deliberate attempt to transform Nigeria into a one-party state.

Following its 99th NEC meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja, the acting PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, stated in a communique that the alleged plot stems from the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) fear of a likely defeat in the 2027 general elections, citing the party’s poor performance in governance.

The communique criticized the growing insecurity, including rampant killings, kidnappings, and attacks on communities, accusing President Tinubu of neglecting his constitutional responsibility to protect Nigerians.

It also expressed concern over the country’s worsening economic crisis, which it attributed to the Tinubu administration’s poorly executed policies.

These include the fuel price hike, rising electricity tariffs, excessive taxation, and arbitrary service charges—all of which the PDP claims have crippled businesses, increased unemployment, fueled criminal activities, and deepened nationwide hardship.

The PDP further accused the current administration of causing infrastructural decline across the country.
