Peller on Hilda Baci’s Jollof Rice Event: “It Shows How Hungry Nigerians Are”

TikTok content creator, Peller, has expressed concern over the level of hunger in Nigeria, using Hilda Baci’s Jollof rice event as an example.

In a video shared on X, Peller recounted how his friend, Taiwo, travelled all the way from Ikorodu to Lagos Island just to eat at the event. He lamented that such actions highlight the extent of hardship many Nigerians face.

“That Hilda Baci’s cooking event made me realise Nigerians are very hungry. One of my friends came all the way from Ikorodu for the food. I said, Taiwo, your life has changed,” Peller remarked, adding that he was shocked by the desperation.

Hilda Baci had earlier captured both national and global attention when she prepared the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice in her record-breaking cooking marathon. Thousands of Nigerians turned out to support her historic feat and partake in the food.

The comments sparked mixed reactions online, with some users arguing that people attended the event mainly for fun and to support Hilda, while others agreed it reflected the economic hardship in the country.
