Peter Obi Cites Flight Disruptions as Reason for Missing Buhari’s Burial Ceremony

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has clarified why he was not present at the burial ceremony of former President Muhammadu Buhari held on Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State.

Despite the high-profile event attended by numerous dignitaries, Obi revealed that flight difficulties prevented him from traveling to Katsina.

According to Obi, securing a flight was impossible because the airports in Katsina were closed to incoming flights due to the heavy attendance and security measures for the burial.

Expressing regret for missing the opportunity to pay his respects in person, Obi said,

“It was difficult coming here yesterday because there was no flight. Even if there was a flight, you can’t land in Katsina airport. It was all closed because there was a lot of dignitaries.

Anyone who comes today or tomorrow is still part of the mourning.” This unforeseen logistical challenge, he explained, was the only reason for his absence at the solemn occasion.

Obi’s explanation offers a candid insight into the complexities surrounding travel during such significant national events, underscoring his respect for the former president despite not being physically present.
