Peter Obi Commends Otti’s Governance, Says His Passion Is for a Working Nigeria, Not Presidency

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has reiterated that his ambition is not about becoming Nigeria’s president but about seeing the country function effectively.

He made this statement on Saturday during a special Anniversary Sabbath service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Umuahia, commemorating Governor Alex Otti’s two years in office.

Obi emphasized the difficulty of governance in Nigeria, especially when leaders aim to do the right thing. He urged the people of Abia to pray for Governor Otti and his cabinet, extending that call to all Nigerian leaders so they can manage public resources responsibly.

“I’m not desperate to be president; I’m desperate to see Nigeria work,” Obi declared, praising Otti for setting a new standard in governance.

“As it is in Abia, we want it to be so across Nigeria,” he added.Obi applauded the governor’s impactful two-year performance, noting that genuine change doesn’t require a long tenure: “One day can make a difference.”

In response, Governor Otti attributed his administration’s progress to divine guidance and strength. He also thanked Obi for his continued support, as well as the state’s legislature, judiciary, and the Church for their prayers.
