Peter Okoye Declares: “I’m the Only Certified Musician in My Family”
Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and formerly one half of the legendary P-Square duo, has boldly stated that he is the only certified musician in the Okoye family.
Speaking during a performance at the recent AY Live event, Mr P opened up about the factors that contributed to the famous group’s breakup.
He attributed much of the tension to persistent comparisons made by fans, which, according to him, fueled ego issues and created a rift between him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
Peter said the favoritism Paul received from fans made him feel overshadowed and underestimated, despite his own versatility as a performer.
“I have sung, danced, played the piano and the guitar but they said I have no talent,” Mr P lamented.
“The reason P-Square split was because some fans kept comparing us. It got into his head and he started misbehaving.”
Mr P also revealed that he holds a formal qualification in music, something he says sets him apart in the Okoye family.
“They lied to you. In the entire Okoye family, I’m the only one with a music certificate. I studied music,” he added confidently.
Despite the controversy and lingering tension from the group’s past, Peter used the moment to reaffirm his dedication to his craft and remind fans of the talent and training he brings to the table.
