Phyno Explains Why He Raps in Igbo Language

Nigerian rapper Phyno revealed that he switched from rapping in English to Igbo to offer something unique to the global music scene.

On the “In My Opinion” podcast, Phyno stated, “I wanted to sell something the Western world doesn’t have… If I sell Igbo to them, that’s what it is. It’s unique.”

Phyno’s upbringing and cultural influences also shaped his decision.
