The Yoruba Nollywood industry is grieving the loss of beloved actress Omotola Odunsi, whose death was first reported by Emiralty Africa and later confirmed by several of her colleagues, including Bakare Zainab and Yetunde Barnabas.
Omotola was widely known for her roles in popular Yoruba films, including Lisabi, where she starred alongside actor Lateef Adedimeji. Her performances had earned her admiration for both her talent and humility.
Taking to Instagram, actress Bakare Zainab shared a brief but emotional tribute:
“Goodnight. Omotola rest well.”
Other tributes poured in from industry colleagues, including Mimisola Daniels, who prayed for her soul, and Ashabi, baby mama to singer Portable, who recalled their recent collaboration on the set of Deputy and heartfelt conversations filled with dreams and mutual encouragement.
Ashabi wrote:
“You laboured and didn’t wait to reap… most of your wishes we talked about didn’t even come true. Death is deep.”
The cause of her death remains undisclosed, but the emotional outpouring from fans and peers reflects the void her passing leaves in the Yoruba film community.
