Portable declares: “Whoever gives me money first gets my endorsement in 2027”

Controversial Nigerian street singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has sparked reactions with a bold statement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Portable said he will endorse whichever presidential candidate offers him money first. He stated that this candidate will also receive the votes of his fans.

“My fans, vote whoever you want. Before, I was saying otherwise. But now, I will only vote for the person who gives me money for the 2027 elections.

Whoever drops money first Peter Obi, Bola Tinubu, or the PDP is the one I will endorse, and I will make sure my fans vote for him. I can’t go hungry; vote for your helper,” he said.

The singer’s comments come months after he shared his disappointment following his encounter with Labour Party’s Peter Obi in Benin City, Edo State. Portable noted that Obi offered him nothing apart from a handshake, unlike President Tinubu, whom he had praised for “changing his life.”

In July, Portable met with Seyi Tinubu, son of the President, commending him and assuring Nigerians that they would be better under Tinubu’s administration.

Public reactions have been mixed, with social media users reacting to his unusual endorsement strategy.

tobathenurse commented: “Portable has campaigned for APC, PDP, and Accord party. A true definition of a non-partisan Nigerian, anywhere money drops 😂😂😂.”

finkventures added: “Shishi you no go see for Peter Obi hand.”

BetwizadTips said: “This Weyrey is part of the reasons Nigeria is in a mess 🤦🏽‍♂️.”

ivoh_ivoh opined: “The exact mindset of all Tinubu supporters. Empty heads with large followers, look at them and you will agree.🤣”

Meekofweb3 wrote: “How much is our own share if they give you money? You can’t endorse any candidate this coming election. Nigerians will decide.”
