Power Minister Adelabu Declares 2027 Governorship Ambition, Says ‘It’s My Turn to Lead Oyo’

The Minister of Power and stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebayo Adelabu, has officially announced his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, boldly declaring that “it is my turn” to govern the state.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting in Oke-Ogun Zone 2 on Sunday which includes Oorelope, Saki East, Saki West, Olorunsogo, Irepo, and Atisbo Local Government Areas Adelabu said his decision stemmed from years of dedication, service, and sacrifice for the people of Oyo State.

“I have been on this political journey for a long time,” the minister said. “In politics, one may not always get what one deserves in a single attempt. I have paid my dues. I contested alongside Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019 and again in 2023. Now, I believe it is our turn—it is my turn in 2027, as God has destined it.”

Adelabu, who currently serves under President Bola Tinubu, stressed that his ambition is driven by compassion for the poor and his commitment to the overall development of the state.

He also called for unity within the APC ahead of the next election, insisting that internal divisions had weakened the party’s previous efforts.

“A divided house can never stand,” he said. “The APC owns Oyo State; the PDP is only a tenant in the Agodi Government House. With unity, grassroots mobilization, and God’s help, victory in 2027 is certain.”

Adelabu concluded by announcing plans to commence a door-to-door campaign, promising to run an inclusive and people-focused movement aimed at reclaiming Oyo State for the APC.
