President Tinubu Celebrates Kessington Adebutu at 90, Hails His Legacy of Integrity and Service
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated businessman and philanthropist Chief Kessington Adebutu on his 90th birthday, describing him as a national icon and role model whose life embodies integrity, compassion, and selfless service to humanity.
In a statement from the State House on Friday, Tinubu praised Adebutu’s remarkable journey from humble beginnings in Iperu-Iremo, Ogun State, to becoming one of Nigeria’s most successful entrepreneurs and philanthropists. He highlighted Adebutu’s pioneering role in developing the modern lottery industry through Premier Lotto Limited, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, which he founded in 2001.
The President commended Adebutu’s numerous contributions to education, healthcare, and youth empowerment through the Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu Foundation, noting that his philanthropy has transformed countless lives across Nigeria. Tinubu also lauded Adebutu’s cultural influence and his recognition as the Odole Oodua of Ile-Ife, an honour reflecting his dedication to cultural preservation and the Yoruba people.
Describing their relationship as one built on mutual respect and admiration, Tinubu called Adebutu a “reliable brother and dependable gentleman whose humility and integrity are widely admired.” He added that Adebutu’s entrepreneurial spirit and benevolent nature have created jobs, sustained families, and inspired young Nigerians to believe in hard work and enterprise.
“Chief Adebutu’s life and legacy are a testament to what vision, resilience, and generosity can achieve. On behalf of the nation, I thank him for bringing joy, opportunities, and livelihoods to countless families,” Tinubu said, wishing him good health and continued contributions to national progress.
