President Tinubu Chairs Special FEC Session to Honor Late Former President Muhammadu Buhari

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will preside over a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) today in honor of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The commemorative meeting, scheduled for 1:00 p.m at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja will bring together cabinet members top government officials and close aides to pay tribute to the statesman whose recent passing has drawn national and international attention.

The session will feature tributes from President Tinubu, who is expected to deliver a formal eulogy highlighting Buhari’s decades-long service to Nigeria as a military leader, Head of State and two-term democratically elected President.

Other ministers, senior officials, and key figures will also share personal reflections underlining Buhari’s lasting influence on Nigeria’s governance and democratic development.

President Tinubu previously described Buhari as a figure of integrity, simplicity and selfless service and directed that condolence registers be opened across federal ministries and at Nigerian embassies worldwide as the country observes official mourning.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, reflecting on the news of Buhari’s death, described it as a major loss not only to the nation but the entire African continent.

Shettima conveyed that President Tinubu was personally pained by the passing, revealing he had been sent to London to visit Buhari before his death and later accompanied the family and the late president’s body back home.
