President Tinubu Clears Senator Natasha, Directs AGF to Drop Politically Motivated Charges

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), to withdraw all pending court cases filed against her by the Federal Government.

The senator made this revelation during a live Facebook broadcast on Tuesday morning after she was allegedly stopped by Immigration officers from travelling abroad, who also seized her international passport.

According to her, the incident followed instructions reportedly issued by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“There was no order. Yes, I know I have two Federal Government cases against me, of which the President of Nigeria instructed the Attorney-General of the Federation to cancel, to withdraw the cases,” she said.

Senator Natasha added that President Tinubu personally intervened and acknowledged that the charges against her were politically motivated.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu actually spoke to Godswill Akpabio to terminate all the cases against me because he agreed that they were politically witch-hunting me. So there is no reason why my passport should be withheld at the international airport,” she stated

In the live video, the visibly angry senator showed the immigration officers who had held her passport for over 20 minutes, questioning Akpabio’s influence.

“Is Godswill Akpabio so important? Why is he overruling boundaries? The Senate President has instructed the Comptroller-General of Customs to deny me exit. This is wrong,” she lamented.

The senator also noted that this was not the first time her travel had been restricted. She recalled that the Federal Government previously filed fresh charges against her at both the Federal High Court in Abuja and the FCT High Court, alleging that she made statements capable of damaging the reputations of Akpabio and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello.

The two charges FHC/ABJ/CR/195/25 and CR/297/25 were filed in May 2025, just weeks apart, intensifying her legal troubles before President Tinubu’s reported intervention.
