President Tinubu Orders Intensified Military Action to Combat Terrorism and Restore National Security

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a firm directive to the Nigerian military and security agencies to intensify efforts against terrorists, insurgents, bandits, and separatist groups threatening Nigeria’s peace and national unity.

Speaking at the grand finale of the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration held at Murtala Square in Kaduna, the President emphasized the urgency of confronting these existential security threats.

Addressing officers and soldiers, Tinubu declared, The time to rise is now. You have my full authorization and the trust of the Nigerian people to confront and defeat those who seek to undermine our nation. You are my confidence, my support, and my prayers.

He stressed that the violence afflicting the country has escalated beyond isolated incidents, describing the threat as an existential challenge that spares no one, destroying places of worship and orphaning children regardless of tribe or faith.

The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to equipping the armed forces with modern weaponry, advanced intelligence capabilities, and personnel development to maintain Nigeria’s sovereignty.

We are not oblivious of the challenges that confront our nation. But let it be said plainly our response must be united, calm, and uncompromising. I assure you that this administration stands firmly with you on that path, Tinubu said.

This directive follows a series of high-level security meetings at the State House in Abuja, where the President received detailed briefings on the escalating violence in states such as Borno, Benue, Plateau, and Kwara.

National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu confirmed that President Tinubu ordered a comprehensive overhaul of national security strategies, emphasizing that enough is enough regarding the senseless killings of innocent Nigerians.

In response to renewed violence in Benue State, the President also called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to lead reconciliation efforts to foster peace among conflicting communities.

Security agencies have been mobilized to take control of operations on the ground, with intelligence chiefs, police, and military personnel deployed to restore order.

Defence Minister Abubakar Badaru highlighted recent military successes under Operation Fasan Yama and other campaigns, noting that Nigeria is on course to achieve a decisive victory over insecurity by the end of 2025.

According to Badaru, security forces have neutralized over 13,500 terrorists and bandits, arrested 17,500 suspects, rescued nearly 10,000 hostages, and secured the surrender of 24,000 insurgents.

President Tinubu’s renewed call for decisive action underscores his administration’s resolve to end the cycle of violence and restore lasting peace and security across Nigeria.
