Pro-Wike Rally in Bayelsa Postponed to April 26, 2025.

The eagerly anticipated political rally organized by The NEW Associates, previously scheduled for Saturday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, has been moved to April 26, 2025.

George Turnah, the rally’s convener and leader of the Bayelsa State Chapter of the NEW Associates, made this announcement during a press briefing in Yenagoa on Friday.

The event, viewed by political observers as a pro-Wike mobilization, was expected to garner significant attention amid rising political tensions in the state.

Turnah explained that the postponement was made in light of ongoing discussions with respected leaders of the Ijaw nation and the planned events of rival political groups on the same day and at the same venue.

He stated, “Several pro-Diri and pro-Tambuwal groups have announced solidarity rallies for the same date and location we had initially planned for our inauguration.

As a peaceful and community-focused organization, we have chosen to delay our event to allow these groups the opportunity to express themselves and to prevent any potential conflict.”

Turnah encouraged members and the people of Bayelsa to maintain their enthusiasm in anticipation of a successful and peaceful rally on April 26.

This development follows a recent order from the Bayelsa State High Court in Yenagoa, which restricted allies of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from holding a previously planned mega rally in the state.
