“Put Yourself First”: Woman Sparks Debate Over Prioritizing Family Over Self
A young woman has ignited conversation online after sharing her advice to not place family above oneself. The lady, known as Amber on X (formerly Twitter), recounted a personal experience that shaped her perspective, revealing that her own family nearly left her feeling “useless.”
In her post, Amber wrote, “Whatever you are doing in life please don’t consider family first because mine almost rendered me useless.
I know what I have been going through these past months. Always look after yourself first and do the little you can for your family. Good morning ❤️.”
The statement quickly drew reactions from social media users, with many supporting her view, while others disagreed. One user, Topzack, responded, saying her message was too general and could mislead those with supportive families.
He wrote, “You generalizing and making it seem everyone’s family are possibly like yours is where the issues at, for those who still got good ones to hold onto? Do not listen to this! Good morning to you Amber and I hope you someday find peace from the hurt your own family’s done to you.”
Amber defended her perspective, explaining, “I believe most of us experience even more but don’t have a way to voice out. I understand how you feel about my opinion, but it is just how I feel.”
Following her clarification, Topzack acknowledged her point, saying, “Ma’am, you strongly do have a point, and in no way do I have any right to invalidate that. You are the one who knows what you’re facing with them, and I hope you do find peace someday about the hurt they’ve caused you.”
Amber’s post continues to spark debate, with many users sharing their own experiences about balancing family responsibilities and self-care.
