Rachel Zegler’s Anti-Trump Remarks Resurface as Snow White Struggles at Box Office

Rachel Zegler’s controversial remarks about Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory have resurfaced, coinciding with the disappointing box office performance of Disney’s live-action Snow White remake.

The film, which opened on March 21, 2025, has fallen short of expectations, earning only $87.3 million globally in its opening weekend against a reported $270 million production budget.

Zegler, who stars as the titular character, faced backlash in November 2024 when she posted on Instagram following Trump’s re-election.

In the now-deleted post, she wrote, May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace, and described the massive support for Trump as a deep, deep sickness in the country.

The actress later apologized on November 14, 2024, stating, “I let my emotions get the best of me. Hatred and anger have caused us to move further away from peace and understanding, and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse.

Despite Zegler’s apology, the controversy has resurfaced as Snow White struggles at the box office. Industry experts now project the film may have difficulty reaching the $500 million global mark needed to break even.

The underwhelming performance has been attributed to various factors, including mixed reviews and a B+ CinemaScore from audiences—lower than typical Disney releases.

Additionally, the film has faced criticism over casting choices and its approach to updating the classic story.

As Disney grapples with the financial implications of Snow White’s performance, the resurgence of Zegler’s political comments adds another layer of complexity to the film’s reception and potential long-term success.
