Rapper Oladips Alleges EFCC Collected ₦10 Million Before His Release from Detention
Nigerian rapper Oladips has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of extorting ₦10 million from him before securing his release from custody.
The artist made the shocking revelation during an interview on the Trending podcast, nearly a year after his arrest.
According to Oladips, he was picked up alongside his neighbours during a midnight raid in his estate in November 2024 and detained for several days.
He claimed that after spending five days in EFCC custody, no incriminating evidence was found against him, yet he was allegedly forced to pay ₦10 million to regain his freedom.
“Nothing was found on me after all their investigations. Nigeria just happened to me,” he lamented, describing the poor conditions in detention and revealing that fellow artist Zlatan Ibile sent him food throughout his stay.
When asked if he planned to take legal action, Oladips expressed doubt, saying, “Who is my father? It’s just me and my truth. They know I’m saying the truth they collected money from me before they released me.”
As of the time of this report, the EFCC has not issued any official response to the allegations. The interview has since gone viral, sparking conversations about alleged corruption and extortion within law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.
