Redeemed Church Provides Free Commute for Workers, Eases Rising Transport Costs
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Youth Province 1, in collaboration with several other youth provinces across Lagos, has invested N40 million in its free bus-to-work initiative, providing morning and evening transportation for commuters across Lagos and Ogun states.
According to a statement from Youth Province 1, the 2025 edition of the programme ran from November 24 to December 5. The initiative covered multiple routes, including RCCG Jesus Palace (Festac) to CMS; Oworonshoki to CMS; Redemption City to 7UP; Redemption City to Sagamu; Redemption City to Trinity Towers (VI); Redemption City to Agege; and Ikorodu to Maryland. Free return trips were also available in the evenings.
The programme, now in its second year, was designed to ease the financial burden of daily commuting amid rising living costs in Nigeria. Pastor Oluwagbemileke Adeboye, Pastor-in-Charge of Youth Province 1, said the church launched the initiative to relieve pressure on residents while also providing an opportunity for spiritual enrichment during journeys.
“This initiative is our way of lending a hand to people. Last year, we witnessed the positive impact it had, so we decided to continue this year in collaboration with other youth provinces,” Pastor Adeboye stated. He added that the initiative is open to everyone, regardless of tribe or religion.
Assisted by Assistant Pastors-in-Charge Pastor Martins Olusakin and Pastor Abiodun Famojuro, the province also plans to integrate this programme with the upcoming RCCG Holy Ghost Congress scheduled for the second week of December. Commuters have expressed gratitude for the support, praising the initiative on social media and appreciating the relief it provides from daily transportation challenges.
