Reno Omokri Urged to Apologise to President Tinubu Ahead of Ambassadorial Screening

A Nigerian social commentator, Reno Omokri, has been advised to apologise to President Bola Tinubu before appearing for his ambassadorial screening at the National Assembly. The advice was given by Charles Obinwanne on Facebook and has ignited discussions about Omokri’s past statements and their potential impact on his political prospects.

Obinwanne noted that Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has over the years made several harsh comments about President Tinubu. He warned that attending the screening without addressing these statements could lead to an awkward and embarrassing encounter with the Senate panel.

In his post, Obinwanne said it was “only proper” for Omokri to apologise before the screening, stressing that past remarks could complicate the process due to Omokri’s history of criticism against the President.

He also criticised Omokri’s public conduct, describing it as inconsistent and self-serving, which, according to Obinwanne, undermines the credibility of his political commentary.

Obinwanne concluded his post with a striking statement: “Even the devil won’t eat from the same plate with you,” a line that has generated wide reactions and discussions online.

The debate has sparked conversations among supporters and critics alike, with opinions divided on whether an apology is necessary ahead of the screening.
