Rita Edochie Defends May Edochie Against Criticism for Not Acknowledging Late Son’s Birthday

Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has come to the defense of May Edochie, who faced criticism for not acknowledging her late son Kambilichukwu’s birthday on social media.

May’s estranged husband, Yul Edochie, had shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook to mark their son’s posthumous birthday, leading to questions and criticism from online users about May’s silence.

Rita Edochie responded to the criticism in an Instagram post, highlighting that everyone mourns differently and that May did not need advice on how to grieve her son.

She pointed out that Yul Edochie had also faced criticism for how he mourned their son’s death, and that people should respect May’s choice to grieve privately.

Rita Edochie’s post reads, “When Kambilichukwu my great genius of a son passed on, his dear father chose how to mourn him… You all complained about it and later gave a conclusion that a man of 40 years and above must not be told how to mourn.”

She then questioned whether a virtuous woman like May Edochie needed advice on how to mourn her son.

Rita Edochie also noted that May Edochie had celebrated her friend Anita Joseph’s birthday the day after Kambilichukwu’s remembrance day, but that the celebration had gone unnoticed by critics due to the hate in their hearts.
