Ruger sheds light on the role of fans in exacerbating Mohbad’s death.
Popular Nigerian singer, Michael Adebayo Olayinka, professionally known as Ruger, has claimed that the actions of the late singer Mohbad’s followers contributed to his untimely death.
Mohbad, a former signee of the Marlian Record label owned by Naira Marley, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances.
There were accusations towards Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, suggesting their involvement in Mohbad’s death. This came after several documents and videos surfaced on social media, showing the duo subjecting Mohbad to relentless bullying for leaving the record label.
In a recent interview on the ‘Afrobeats Podcast’ with UK-based media personality Adesope Olajide, Ruger placed blame on Mohbad’s fans for exacerbating the issues leading up to his death.
Ruger expressed disappointment in the lack of support received by Mohbad from his fans when he decided to leave the record label.
“I don’t know whether the label was Mohbad’s problem or not. I just want you all to know that the label was not only his problem, but the fans were his problem too.
“Because as soon as he left the label, I don’t think people continued listening to him anymore. I feel like they were just attached to the fact that he was a Marlian,” he said.
