A 32-year-old Russian woman, Mariana Barutkina, fractured her spine while attempting the viral Nicki Minaj stiletto challenge just weeks after giving birth.
In the now-viral video she posted online, Mariana is seen wearing high heels and attempting a squat on a stack of unstable household items including a baby formula container placed on a saucepot all balanced on a kitchen counter. She lost her balance and fell off the counter, resulting in a serious back injury.
Doctors later diagnosed her with a Th9 compression fracture. Mariana, who had recently begun her journey as a content creator, opened up about the incident and described it as one of life’s unexpected and painful tests.
The stiletto challenge, inspired by a pose from Nicki Minaj’s “High School” music video, has become a trend where people perform risky balancing acts in heels on unstable surfaces in an attempt to go viral.
