Sadeeque Abba Says Trump’s Actions Against Tinubu Are Personal and Political

Dr. Sadeque Abubakar Abba, a Nigerian political scientist, has spoken out on the ongoing international tension involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Appearing on Sunday Politics, Abba claimed that Trump’s actions toward Tinubu are driven not by concern for Christian persecution, but by personal vengeance.

According to Abba, Tinubu allegedly supported Kamala Harris’s 2024 U.S. presidential campaign and collaborated with French President Emmanuel Macron to prevent Trump from winning.

In his statement, Dr. Abba said:

“Donald Trump is targeting Tinubu out of vengeance because there is evidence that Tinubu funded Kamala Harris and teamed up with President Macron of France to block Trump’s victory in the election.”

He further explained:

“They knew if Harris had become the president, it would have been a problem for them. Trump is getting back at Tinubu.”

Abba also suggested a second motive behind the alleged U.S. pressure: Nigeria’s vast energy resources. He claimed that strategic interests in the country’s oil and gas reserves could be influencing the U.S.’s approach.
