Samklef Denies N20m Allegation, Says He Won’t Mourn More Than Mohbad’s Family
Nigerian music producer and influencer, Samuel Oguachuba, popularly known as Samklef, has addressed allegations and ongoing tensions related to the controversy surrounding the death of late singer, Mohbad.
In a video message posted on social media, Samklef directly responded to claims by activist and influencer Verydarkman that he paid ₦20 million to obtain sensitive information about a leaked celebrity group chat allegedly linked to Mohbad’s case.
Samklef firmly denied the allegation, insisting that the information was leaked from within the group itself not purchased.
“Verydarkman did not pay anybody ₦20 million to get information regarding the group chat. He said that the person who leaked the chat was already inside the group,” Samklef clarified.
The controversial group chat, which has sparked heated debates across social media, allegedly contained conversations among celebrities discussing the late singer and legal efforts surrounding his death. Samklef had earlier shared parts of this chat online, drawing both praise and criticism.
Beyond the financial allegation, Samklef also expressed his frustration at being vilified for what he describes as a sincere effort to seek justice for Mohbad. He lamented the lack of support and gratitude from both the late singer’s family and the Nigerian music industry.
“If the father of Mohbad is quiet, why should I be fighting? I don’t have any personal interest in this case. Why should I be crying more than the bereaved?” he asked.
He continued, sharing his emotional toll:
“How will you feel if you were in my shoes, where people are insulting you for having a genuine reason to fight for justice? I sat down and thought about the whole thing… even the family no appreciate wetin we dey do. The judiciary don talk say Naira Marley and Sam Larry are free. Did you see me online ranting or questioning that decision? The whole industry ganged up against me.”
Samklef went on to urge all parties involved in the ongoing Mohbad drama to step back from the public fights, emphasizing that vengeance will not ease the pain or bring peace to Mohbad’s soul, who, he noted, still hasn’t been given a proper burial.
“My brothers, revenge is not the solution. Because it will just keep dragging on. Mohbad’s soul is not at rest. Everyone should cease fire and stop fighting,” he pleaded.
Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died under controversial circumstances in September 2023.
The 27-year-old’s passing triggered a public outcry, with fans and fellow musicians demanding justice amid suspicions surrounding those he had accused of harassment, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry. Although both men were arrested and questioned, the judicial outcome led to their release due to insufficient evidence a development that has remained controversial.
Meanwhile, the lingering tensions among celebrities, content creators, and fans continue to stir public emotions, with no clear resolution yet in sight.
